The staff of Incite Magazine is proud to present their first Distinguished Lecture in coordination with the release of their spring magazine, on April 17th from 3:30-5:30 in the Lecture hall.
Our speaker will be
Cornelius B. Murphy Jr., Ph.D.
President, of the State University of New York
College of Environmental Science & Forestry, in Syracuse
Dr. Murphy’s technical expertise lies in the areas of environmental science and engineering management, hazardous waste management, environmental assessment, renewable energy systems, limnology, urban runoff planning, and industrial wastewater treatment.
We will look at essential green technology leadership opportunities for Niagara Region businesses, academic institutions, government and industry. We will explore trends in the marketplace and where commercial opportunities can be created through green technologies. We will discuss ways to analyze the potential of sustainable ventures and critical success factors. This should be a very special presentation and a tradition we hope to continue each year. We will have a student sign in sheet for any students who may be attending for credit within their classes.

Senior Communication major, Lisa Cialfi will host a grammar forum tomorrow, April 15th from 12:30-1:30 in the Lecture Hall. Come a support Lisa as well as learn how to imporve your papers just in time for finals!!

The Challenge: Create a 60 second (exactly 60 seconds) public service announcement (PSA) designed for a college aged audience (18-24 years old) to encourage/support sustainability/going green.
Who can participate? Current Medaille College undergraduate students only
Submission Deadline: 4/15/2009 by 4:00 p.m. Student Affairs Office to Mary Johnson
Submission Format: QuickTime movie format burned on a DVD, file size not to exceed 1 GB
Judging Criteria: creativity, video quality (consistency of audio levels and video quality), writing, editing and originality
Winning submission to be posted on the Medaille College website
1st Prize –$200 Cash reward and making a contribution to the greater good…priceless
Camera equipment can be signed out in the NMI (New Media Institute) in Huber Hall or the TV Studio only if students are familiar with these cameras. Individual or group projects will be accepted.

Join WMCB tomorrow night and support your favorite contestant as we hold our 5th Annual Star Search.
Contestants will compete for a chance to win the big prize of $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place.
Star Search is tomorrow, March 31 at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Lecture Hall, Main Building. It will be a night of fun to support Medaille students, as they sing for a chance to win big money.

And last but not least, cable and phone comanies are trying to get your business by having more community news channels. Do we need more local news, other than what’s already covered? Do we need a station just for 24 hour local news and weather? What does that implications might that have for the quality of the news? (sorry no link for this story)

MCTV will meet every Wednesday starting at 12:30pm-1:30pm for the rest of this semester. Tapings will occur (also from 12:30-1:30) on the following Friday’s: tomorrow March 27th, April 3rd, April 17th* and May 1st. We need all the help we can get to make our tapings a success. The TV studio will be open before taping begins so you can stop by ahead of time for training, assigments, etc.
