Junior Communication student, Tara Lacell took home the grand prize of $500 as the winner of WMCB’s 4th Annual Star Search singing competition.
The celebrity judges of Dan Brawn-Winner of Star Search 2007 , Mary Beth Wrobel- WIVB Channel 4 meteorologist, and Rob Lucas-Star 102.5 radio show host, all saw a great competition as this was all their first experience as judges of Star Search.
Linda Rodgers took home the 3rd place prize of $100 as Alyson Franklin went home with the 2nd place $250 prize.
For the third straight year, the individual who came in 3rd place the year before, went home with the grand prize as the winner of Star Search. Dan Brawn came came in 3rd in the 2nd Annual Star Search and the next year he won it all. The same year Brawn came in 1st, Lacell came in 3rd place.
Communication seniors Kyle Skoney, Chris Muscarella, and Matthew Kushner were the hosts for the evening.

Medaille College’s own radio station, WMCB the Lizzard will hold their 4th Annual Star Search singing competition in the Medaille College Lecture Hall starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday April 2.
Seniors Chris Muscarella, and Kyle Skoney will be your MC’s as Matthew Kushner will be the “Ryan Seacrest” for the evening.
The judges will be Dan Brawn, Medaille Senior and last year’s grand prize winner, Rob Lucas, from Star 102.5, and Mary Beth Wrobel from WIVB Channel 4.
It should be a great night of good clean fun entertainment as the grand prize winner will walk away $500 richer.
Be there or you will miss the best event of the spring season.

Due to the increase in the number of physical altercations involving college students in and around Buffalo, Medaille Public Safety and Residence Life are reminding students, faculty and staff to be aware of their personal safety when out and about in the community.
If you are out at night, you should use caution, be more aware of your surroundings and travel with a friend or in groups. There is safety in numbers and avoid confrontational situations.
If you become involved in a situation which makes you uncomfortable or threatened, you should go to a safe location and then contact “911”. If something should occur while you are on the Medaille College Campus call Public Safety at 880 – 2911 immediately.
If you have any questions, please contact the departments of Public Safety or Residence Life.

On behalf of the Career Services office:
On Wednesday April 16th from 12:00PM – 1:30PM, The Career Planning and Placement Center is hosting a Career and Internship Fair in the Sullivan Center Gymnasium.
As we have done in the past, we will be offering prizes to students.
When students sign-in at the Fair we will ask who referred them. (Students you can help your faculty win a gift certificate by saying they recommended you: $100.00 gift certificate to La Tee Da on Allen Street in Buffalo, so please attend and sign in!) Currently we have 40 registered Employers, with additional registrations coming in daily. We have been very diligent in seeking out employers who will address all our majors.
This event is not just for Seniors, but for all level of students. Students should begin to network and research different careers during their Freshman year. Be looking for an upcoming post on the employers in attendance.

The Medaille Communications Department will be holding their annual awards luncheon for the local media for their involvement in the Medaille internship program on Monday, March 10. All Media majors are expected to be in attendance for a free lunch and an afternoon of networking. The seniors of the department will be presenting the awards.

The Buffalo/Niagara Public Relations Society of America Chapter offers the May C Randazzo Scholarship to college students attending colleges/universities in the geographic area served by the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (eight counties of Western New York as well as the Pennsylvania counties of Erie, Warren and McKean.) That means you!
Qualifying students should have a declared major in the field of communications with an emphasis on those students pursuing a career in public relations. The award is for $1000 and the deadline is quickly approaching (April 4, 2008).

Here’s a chance to win a $50 gift card from Target. Submit your best audio or video demo tape, aircheck, news story, sportscast, or interview according to the guidelines below by Monday, March 10, 2008. We’re looking for audition tapes, test tapes, shows or clips from shows, and anything you would consider sending to a prospective employer to show them what you’ve got. As long as at least 6 entries in each category (video and audio) are received by that date, we will randomly select one student to win! One entry per student is allowed. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 12. By submitting an entry, you agree that it may be posted on this web site (medaillecommunication.com) and other web sites. Entries that do not follow these guidelines will not be counted.
