WMCB and Coach Jacob’s Class Clothing Drive

Uncategorized Comments Off

Once again it’s that time of the year. What time do you ask? This is the time to be giving again to those who need a helping hand. WMCB and Coach Richard Jacob’s Class will be teaming up to donate and deliver clothes to City Mission.

Last year it was a great success and we filled two Medaille Vans to the top. This year we hope to do that again and hope even more. If you have any clothes that you would like to donate, start digging it out of your closet and help WMCB and Coach Jacob’s class give back to the community.

We are extending the time period to drop off close for another week; the last day will be Friday, November 21st. There are drop off boxes inside of the radio station and you can also drop off clothes to Coach Jacob’s office in Humboldt 91.

For information, you can contact Coach Richard Jacob at 880-2131

Senior Spotlight: Megan Ohnmeiss

Uncategorized Comments Off

As the end of the Fall semester gets closer and closer, many December graduates are already planning for life after graduation. In the last few weeks of school, we will spotlight a different senior in the department each week.

This weeks shining star is Megan Ohmeiss.

Megan got a lot of her work experience through internships. In high school, she interned at Time Warner Cable 8 News. . In college, Megan interned at KISS FM out of Jamestown, WKBW Channel 7 sports, and with The Buffalo Sabres.

On campus, Megan was involved with WMCB in which she did a country radio show during her sophomore year. Throughout the years, Megan has also been involved with the TV studio.  In addition, Megan has written in almost every issue in the Perspective since her freshmen year.

Megans ultimate career goal would be to be on a major sports network doing sports news.  As for the near future, she’s applying to a lot of different TV markets and hoping for the best, as well as applying to two graduate schools as another possibilty.

Megan said, “The best part of the Communication Department is definitely the teachers.  They are definately all great teachers and really care about what happens to you after graduation”. Upon graduation, Megan admits she will miss the staff and her friends most of all.

When asked about her feelings regarding graduation, Megan said, ” Honestly, I’m scared to death. I have confidence in myself and what I’ve learned, but it’s a scary world out there. Our economy is doing horrible and if it’s possible, which it is, the market I’m going into is doing worse. It’s a cut throat society. I’m sad to be turning a new leaf in my life but excited all at the same time.”

Megans advises  other students do internships and network at much as possible.  She said, “Have a plan, work your hardest, and plan ahead.  Waiting until the last minute will never get you anywhere. Always reach for the stars and nothing less. Don’t let anything knock you down.”

If you would like to contact Megan, please email  her at MO26@medaille.edu
